Water Conservation Tips
As part of our Water Management and Conservation Plan (WMCP), the Nesika Beach-Ophir Water District (NBOWD) is committed to helping our community conserve water.
Here are some simple first steps you can take to save water every day:
Check for Toilet Leaks:
Add food coloring to your toilet tank. If color appears in the bowl without flushing, you have a leak. Fixing it can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.Adjust Sprinklers:
Make sure sprinklers water only your lawn, not your house, sidewalk, or street.Reuse Rinse Water:
Collect water used to rinse fruits and vegetables, and reuse it to water houseplants.Run Full Loads:
Always run dishwashers and washing machines only when fully loaded.Recycle Fish Tank Water:
When cleaning your fish tank, give the nutrient-rich water to your plants.Fix Leaks Promptly:
Listen for dripping faucets and running toilets—fixing a single leak can save 300 gallons a month or more.Know Your Shut-Off Valve:
Locate your master water shut-off valve. This could save water and prevent costly damage in an emergency.
